The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Taqi Bahbhani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Northampton's supporters rose to their feet, but Taqi Bahbhani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Faleh Hayat breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee ignored Holmer Green's protests and gave Shaban Al Attar a yellow card for diving instead. Shaban Al Attar kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Taqi Bahbhani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faleh Hayat having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Northampton's Waheed Al Barrak sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Faleh Hayat narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 24 played minutes Northampton got a freekick which was hit by Nasser Kakoli. In the 25th minute of the match Abdullah Al Banai shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hakem Al Ansari showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nasser Kakoli kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Esmael Al Hashash during the 29th minute. Holmer Green's Faleh Hayat proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Holmer Green from getting a goal against them. In the 52nd minute, Waheed Al Barrak made a precise shot to the right of Faleh Hayat. Holmer Green's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Holmer Green's Faleh Hayat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Taqi Bahbhani in the 59th minute of play. Faleh Hayat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waheed Al Barrak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waheed Al Barrak might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Faleh Hayat. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Waheed Al Barrak ran back to his position shaking his head. When Taqi Bahbhani came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Northampton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Taqi Bahbhani couldn't finish the play. Morad Al Mansor struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Hakem Al Ansari didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Holmer Green. When Waheed Al Barrak came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Northampton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waheed Al Barrak couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Northampton's Malik Kakoli got a free kick in the 79th minute. During the 88th minute of the match Shaban Al Attar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Shaban Al Attar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Northampton booed when Holmer Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shaban Al Attar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Faleh Hayat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waheed Al Barrak in the 91st minute of play. If Taqi Bahbhani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Northampton's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
