In the 34th minute, Nikolay Kogan made a precise shot to the right of Robert Averchenko. Tobolsk FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Nikita Anuchin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Volzhsky FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nikolay Kogan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Anton Kekcheev's late challenge caught a Volzhsky FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
