After having played for 27 minutes, Leonid Hryukin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kostroma HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonid Hryukin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leonid Hryukin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Leonid Hryukin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Georgiy Samsonov was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. After 34 played minutes Volzhsky got a freekick which was hit by Vadim Bessarab. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Konstantin Shelemetev managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kostroma HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Konstantin Shelemetev was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Georgiy Samsonov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Konstantin Shelemetev, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 41 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Georgiy Samsonov was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When Kostroma HC's Leonid Hryukin in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Volzhsky's goalie prevented a goal. Ilya Savin hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nikolay Veresovoy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Konstantin Shelemetev got free with Georgiy Samsonov in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 55 played minutes Volzhsky got a freekick which was hit by Evlampiy Zhitnikov. Konstantin Shelemetev's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Georgiy Samsonov skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Kostroma HC's goalkeeper Klim Kremen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Volzhsky getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Lev Dimitriev hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonid Hryukin in the 76th minute of play forced Volzhsky's goalkeeper Georgiy Samsonov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Klim Kremen came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Volzhsky's Aleksandr Maslov. But to his dismay, Aleksandr Maslov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Konstantin Shelemetev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Georgiy Samsonov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kostroma HC's Klim Kremen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nikolay Veresovoy in the 92nd minute of play. Aleksandr Maslov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Volzhsky players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
