Vologda's Vyacheslav Bliznyakov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Vologda from getting a goal against them. Nikolay Karponosov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 12th minute, Yuriy Ovchinnikov fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Efrem Golyshev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Mikhail Akinfeev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ernest Shvaikov came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Vologda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernest Shvaikov couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Vologda booed when Kolomna FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anatoliy Kezin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernest Shvaikov struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Mikhail Akinfeev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vologda. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Anatoliy Misyurkeev got free with Mikhail Akinfeev in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 60 minutes into the match, Kolomna FC's goalkeeper Mikhail Akinfeev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anatoliy Misyurkeev. Ernest Shvaikov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikhail Akinfeev having to interfere. When Ernest Shvaikov came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Vologda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernest Shvaikov couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes into the match, Kolomna FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Shvaikov came free, but Mikhail Akinfeev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 69 minutes, Nikolay Karponosov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kolomna FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nikolay Karponosov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nikolay Karponosov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vyacheslav Bliznyakov having to interfere. If Ippolit Zherebko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute of the match, Anatoliy Misyurkeev got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mikhail Akinfeev was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mikhail Akinfeev didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Vologda's Ernest Shvaikov shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Nikolay Karponosov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ernest Shvaikov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikhail Akinfeev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Anatoliy Misyurkeev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikhail Akinfeev having to interfere. Ernest Shvaikov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikhail Akinfeev having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
