Veniamin Yung took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vasiliy Galazov. Novy Urengoy's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Igor Abaliy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. In the 47th match minute, Novy Urengoy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Kopchikov to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Glazov's Leonid Drogalev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Abaliy in the 57th minute of play. German Zakharov's late challenge caught a Novy Urengoy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. German Zakharov helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Novy Urengoy booed when Glazov was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. German Zakharov didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Glazov's Aleksandr Bagretsov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vasiliy Galazov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 65th minute, Anatoliy Eremin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that Glazov were the better team. Glazov's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
