The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Komsomolsk-on-Amur's Leonid Zaitsev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martyn Karavaev in the 11th minute of play. If Valeriy Tomin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ilya Plyuschev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ilya Plyuschev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Leonid Glasko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Valeriy Tomin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonid Glasko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valeriy Tomin in the 25th minute of the match. The supporters of Komsomolsk-on-Amur booed when Murmansk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Innokentiy Garanin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valeriy Tomin got free with Leonid Glasko in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valeriy Tomin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Polikarp Samiylenko fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Komsomolsk-on-Amur's protests and gave Polikarp Samiylenko a yellow card for diving instead. Polikarp Samiylenko hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute of the match Veniamin Uglichaninov sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leonid Zaitsev skillfully saved the ball. Leonid Glasko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valeriy Tomin in the 41st minute of the match. The supporters of Murmansk booed when Komsomolsk-on-Amur was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Georgiy Zasuhin didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Murmansk's Veniamin Uglichaninov in action when he in the 45th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! If Dmitriy Zubov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valeriy Tomin to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Komsomolsk-on-Amur getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Polikarp Samiylenko hit a great ball. Ilya Plyuschev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leonid Glasko came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Komsomolsk-on-Amur's Valeriy Tomin. But to his dismay, Valeriy Tomin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If Valeriy Tomin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dmitriy Zubov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonid Zaitsev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Komsomolsk-on-Amur's Polikarp Samiylenko got a free kick in the 77th minute. Dmitriy Ustinov kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Martyn Karavaev charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martyn Karavaev the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 97th minute, Martyn Karavaev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
