Anatoliy Beschastnyh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimir Lihonosov in the 18th minute of the match. Zinoviy Broshin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anatoliy Beschastnyh having to interfere. Fedor Domanevskiy kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Vladimir Lihonosov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anatoliy Beschastnyh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zinoviy Broshin in the 35th minute of play. If Vladimir Lihonosov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evdokim Lobanov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Sergey Abdulov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Irkutsk FC fans' excitement grew in the 43rd match minute when Irkutsk FC's Evdokim Lobanov looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Andrey Gusov's late challenge caught a Irkutsk FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
