Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Anatoliy Dementiev got the match started through his kick off. Yuriy Gulyakov hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 7th minute, Gleb Burlyaev fired a really elegant long shot, but Rudolf Bulanov threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. If Ernest Bystrov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rudolf Bulanov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anatoliy Dementiev in the 12th minute of play. Rudolf Bulanov was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ernest Bystrov showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. Egor Sergachev kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Ernest Bystrov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Bulanov having to interfere. Anatoliy Dementiev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Rudolf Bulanov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute Aleksey Turov suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 32 minutes, Gleb Burlyaev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Volgodonsk and the Obninsk players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Volgodonsk fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Gennadiy Gurkin went to the wrong direction when Karp Gulyaev was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Volgodonsk's Gennadiy Gurkin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anatoliy Homyakov in the 38th minute of play. Anatoliy Homyakov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Gennadiy Gurkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Obninsk's goalkeeper Rudolf Bulanov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 45th match minute, Volgodonsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viktor Naidov to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anatoliy Homyakov stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Afanasiy Isaev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernest Bystrov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Volgodonsk's zone, Anatoliy Homyakov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gennadiy Gurkin came out of the goal and Anatoliy Homyakov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Obninsk's Afanasiy Isaev got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anatoliy Homyakov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 73 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Yuriy Gulyakov sped through Volgodonsk's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gennadiy Gurkin. When Anatoliy Dementiev came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Volgodonsk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anatoliy Dementiev couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Volgodonsk booed when Obninsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yuriy Gulyakov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rudolf Bulanov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anatoliy Dementiev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ernest Bystrov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anatoliy Dementiev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Bulanov having to interfere. Ernest Bystrov struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Rudolf Bulanov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Volgodonsk. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
