When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Matvey Dergachev put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Veniamin Sagadaev. If Nikolay Babkin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fedor Sazhin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valeriy Kedrolivanskiy in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Matvey Shashkov reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Veniamin Sagadaev. The goal made the score 2-1. After 34 played minutes Elektrostal got a freekick which was hit by Sergey Chobotov. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk HC's goalkeeper Fedor Sazhin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valeriy Kedrolivanskiy made a kick off. Elektrostal's Vsevolod Leipunskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by Vsevolod Leipunskiy got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vsevolod Leipunskiy got free with Fedor Sazhin in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Matvey Shashkov came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matvey Shashkov couldn't finish the play. Elektrostal's Vsevolod Leipunskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 92 minutes into the game, Felix Zharkih was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Elektrostal the free kick. Matvey Shashkov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elektrostal were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
