The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Georgiy Tobolkin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy made a huge save. In the 7th minute, Georgiy Stoyanov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dmitriy Belov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yuriy Mnozhin's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Georgiy Tobolkin notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Nizhnekamsk FC's Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy. Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Georgiy Tobolkin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oleg Tovarovskiy's late challenge caught a Nizhnekamsk FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oleg Tovarovskiy helped the player get up and apologised. Oleg Tovarovskiy kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 25th minute Feoktist Filimonov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Penza's Gerasim Homskiy got a free kick in the 26th minute. A collision led to Penza getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Penza's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nizhnekamsk FC the free kick. A collision led to Penza getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gerasim Homskiy hit a great ball. If Yuriy Mnozhin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Feoktist Filimonov in the 35th minute of play forced Nizhnekamsk FC's goalkeeper Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Georgiy Tobolkins short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Guriy Averchenko struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Dmitriy Belov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nizhnekamsk FC. Dmitriy Morozovskiy kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Feoktist Filimonov to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Nizhnekamsk FC's goalkeeper Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Guriy Averchenko fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Dmitriy Morozovskiy kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Georgiy Tobolkin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dmitriy Belov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Yuriy Mnozhin in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yuriy Mnozhin got free with Dmitriy Belov in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Yuriy Mnozhin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Dmitriy Belov made a huge save. If Feoktist Filimonov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 79 minutes, Feoktist Filimonov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penza's supporters crossed their fingers, but Feoktist Filimonov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vyacheslav Voznesenskiy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feoktist Filimonov in the 82nd minute of play. Guriy Averchenko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Dmitriy Belov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 94th minute by Guriy Averchenko got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Penza fans cheered their team off the field, for while Nizhnekamsk FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
