In the 5th minute, ФК Партизан's Konstantin Ustinov seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Konstantin Ustinov the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of ФК Партизан protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Konstantin Ustinov had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 4 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for ФК Партизан! Yoshkar-Ola's Timofey Bondarenko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Karpin in the 14th minute of play. Egor Borodulin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilya Reinfeld having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egor Borodulin in the 20th minute of play forced ФК Партизан's goalkeeper Ilya Reinfeld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Igor Karpin managed to get in a good position for a shot. ФК Партизан's supporters rose to their feet, but Igor Karpin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Timofey Bondarenko breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd minute, Igor Karpin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Timofey Bondarenko. The goal made the score 1-1. 26 minutes into the game, Vassilis Daskalakis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ФК Партизан's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yoshkar-Ola the free kick. Vassilis Daskalakis kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Oleg Netto hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. If David Koshelev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Koshelev in the 31st minute of play forced ФК Партизан's goalkeeper Ilya Reinfeld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, David Koshelev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as ФК Партизан's Igor Karpin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Timofey Bondarenko. That made the score 2-1 after 37 minutes of play. The supporters of Yoshkar-Ola booed when ФК Партизан was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oleg Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute, Aleksandr Berezutskiy sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and ФК Партизан's Ilya Reinfeld didn't even have to move. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Igor Karpin to make the kick off. When Igor Karpin came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the ФК Партизан fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Karpin couldn't finish the play. 60 minutes into the match, Yoshkar-Ola's Egor Borodulin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ilya Reinfeld narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 61 minutes ФК Партизан's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Aleksandr Berezutskiy who took care of the corner kick. Daniil Berezhanskiy was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ilya Reinfeld made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egor Borodulin in the 64th minute. David Koshelev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Ilya Reinfeld tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Yoshkar-Ola's Gerasim Melnikov got a free kick in the 69th minute. In the 72nd match minute, ФК Партизан was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Kashin to maneuver through the defense. The Yoshkar-Ola fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Yoshkar-Ola's Egor Borodulin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Egor Borodulin got free with Ilya Reinfeld in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Egor Borodulin struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Ilya Reinfeld didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yoshkar-Ola. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Koshelev in the 92nd minute of play forced ФК Партизан's goalkeeper Ilya Reinfeld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
