When Sergey Timohin came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Elista fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergey Timohin couldn't finish the play. Sergey Timohin scored 1-0 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Maksim Lengin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Efim Plugin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maksim Lengin having to interfere. If Hristofor Emelyanov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Konovalov hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Sergey Timohin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Maksim Lengin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maksim Lengin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efim Plugin, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hristofor Emelyanov in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidor Nemirov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Elista's Sidor Nemirov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albert Ischenko in the 43rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hristofor Emelyanov during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th minute, Sergey Timohin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
