Yoshkar-Ola FC's Vladimir Kiselev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Konstantin Slavutin in the 15th minute of play. Vladimir Kiselev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arsen Tyablikov in the 17th minute. In the 20th minute Sergey Gollandskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerasim Borozdin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arsen Tyablikov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimir Kiselev having to interfere. After having played for 27 minutes, Stanislav Vinnikov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vladimir Kiselev came out of the goal and Arsen Tyablikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Konstantin Slavutin was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Ulyanovsk booed when Yoshkar-Ola FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irakliy Zaletin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gerasim Borozdin made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Stanislav Vinnikov sent off a good shot on target. Iosif Melnikov charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iosif Melnikov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ulyanovsk getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Iosif Melnikov hit a great ball. Sergey Gollandskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerasim Borozdin having to interfere. Konstantin Slavutin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Vladimir Kiselev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 72 played minutes Ulyanovsk got a freekick which was hit by Igor Temiraev. Irakliy Zaletin's late challenge caught a Ulyanovsk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Irakliy Zaletin helped the player get up and apologised. Irakliy Zaletin kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 78 minutes into the match, Yoshkar-Ola FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arsen Tyablikov came free, but Vladimir Kiselev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Arsen Tyablikov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladimir Kiselev was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. In the 83rd minute, Konstantin Slavutin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Yoshkar-Ola FC's zone, Arsen Tyablikov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimir Kiselev came out of the goal and Arsen Tyablikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Konstantin Slavutin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
