If Petr Shiryaev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Saratov FC's Moisey Denisov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petr Shiryaev in the 23rd minute of play. Saratov FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Petr Shiryaev was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After a defensive mix-up in Saratov FC's zone, Anatoliy Zbruev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Moisey Denisov came out of the goal and Anatoliy Zbruev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 48 minutes into the match, Anatoliy Zbruev notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Saratov FC's Moisey Denisov. Moisey Denisov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anatoliy Zbruev to make the kick off.
