Gennadiy Borovoy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ilya Lobov's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. If Oleg Morozov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ilya Lobov in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gennadiy Borovoy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Zheleznodorozhny FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Igor Belozerov hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, Cheboksary FC's Veniamin Nikiforov broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
