The supporters of Ivanovo HC booed when FC CSKA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksandr Kostogryz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fedosey Temirbulatov struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Anatoliy Aguzarov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ivanovo HC. Ivanovo HC's Rostislav Antonov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladislav Arteev in the 9th minute of play. Anatoliy Aguzarov made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Fedosey Temirbulatov sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emmanuil Smolkin in the 13th minute of play forced Ivanovo HC's goalkeeper Rostislav Antonov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fedosey Temirbulatov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emmanuil Smolkin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Rostislav Antonov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emmanuil Smolkin hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Anatoliy Aguzarov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afanasiy Shkopinskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vladimir Bubnov kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Fedosey Temirbulatov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Anatoliy Aguzarov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Vladislav Arteev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Vladislav Arteev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Emmanuil Smolkin came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the FC CSKA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emmanuil Smolkin couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afanasiy Shkopinskiy made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in FC CSKA's zone, Fedosey Temirbulatov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anatoliy Aguzarov came out of the goal and Fedosey Temirbulatov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anatoliy Aguzarov showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 59 minutes into the match, FC CSKA's goal looked a bit too open when Afanasiy Shkopinskiy came free, but Anatoliy Aguzarov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Petr Karpin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th match minute, Ivanovo HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arseniy Shumarovskiy to maneuver through the defense. It was beautiful to see FC CSKA's Aleksandr Kostogryz in action when he in the 90th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! If Vladislav Arteev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute.
