The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Kaluga FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ivanovo:s goal. Timofey Boyarinov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vsevolod Gushalevich showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilya Adamenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute, Timofey Boyarinov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aleksandr Islamov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timofey Boyarinov in the 25th minute of play. The supporters of Kaluga FC booed when Ivanovo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timofey Anofriev didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Timofey Anofriev was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ivanovo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kaluga FC the free kick. Timofey Anofriev kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Voldemar Schebet sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ivanovo's Aleksandr Islamov didn't even have to move. Mikhail Kabanov charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vsevolod Gushalevich prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kaluga FC's Vsevolod Gushalevich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irakliy Rodimtsev in the 40th minute of play. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ivanovo's goalkeeper Aleksandr Islamov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Yakov Kolyshkin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Vsevolod Gushalevich was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Gerasim Voroshilov. Ivanovo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
