Yakov Vlasov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mikhail Shablovskiy in the 9th minute of the match. Yakov Vlasov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stepan Butenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Velikiy Novgorod FC's Danila Samoilov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yakov Vlasov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mikhail Shablovskiy in the 16th minute of play forced Norilsk's goalkeeper Yakov Vlasov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Mikhail Larionov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Norilsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Mikhail Larionov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Semen Knyazevich breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 25th minute, Velikiy Novgorod FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Evgeniy Kuchmasov fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 29 minutes into the match, Stepan Butenko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yakov Vlasov. Norilsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stepan Butenko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Evgeniy Kuchmasov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Semen Knyazevich tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Evgeniy Kuchmasov struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Semen Knyazevich didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norilsk. In the 47th minute, Stepan Butenko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Velikiy Novgorod FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mikhail Larionov to make the kick off. Yakov Vlasov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Timur Obnorskiy in the 60th minute. Evgeniy Kuchmasov hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 76th minute, Denis Adamovich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evgeniy Gudim kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Velikiy Novgorod FC's Danila Samoilov couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Norilsk. Yakov Vlasov made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Stepan Butenko sent off a good shot on target. Yakov Vlasov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikhail Shablovskiy in the 87th minute of play. Sergey Yakushev kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. The supporters of Velikiy Novgorod FC booed when Norilsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valeriy Ryabchenko didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th match minute, Norilsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valeriy Ryabchenko to maneuver through the defense. Valeriy Ryabchenko kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Norilsk's Valeriy Ryabchenko got his second yellow card of the match in the 97th minute. The referee ordered Valeriy Ryabchenko off the ground. Valeriy Ryabchenko hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Timur Obnorskiy might have been able to make a better finish in the 101st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yakov Vlasov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timur Obnorskiy ran back to his position shaking his head. Velikiy Novgorod FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
