Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 6 minutes into the match, Cherepovets FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mikhail Shablovskiy came free, but Roman Bogdanov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 7th minute Mikhail Shablovskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Bogdanov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 9th minute by Stepan Butenko got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Velikiy Novgorod FC's zone, Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Semen Knyazevich came out of the goal and Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Semen Knyazevich didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cherepovets FC. Stepan Butenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Cherepovets FC's Arseniy Korvatskiy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Semen Knyazevich narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roman Bogdanov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mikhail Shablovskiy in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 36thth minute of the game Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Velikiy Novgorod FC's Semen Knyazevich was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Stepan Butenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arseniy Korvatskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Semen Knyazevich having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Semen Knyazevich made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dmitriy Akhmedzhanov in the 53rd minute. After 61 minutes of play, Velikiy Novgorod FC's Mikhail Shablovskiy made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roman Bogdanov was left in no man's land by his defense there! Velikiy Novgorod FC's Timur Obnorskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Mikhail Shablovskiy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stepan Butenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Cherepovets FC's zone, Stepan Butenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Bogdanov came out of the goal and Stepan Butenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 78 minutes into the game, Miroslav Belousov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cherepovets FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Velikiy Novgorod FC the free kick. After 79 played minutes Cherepovets FC got a freekick which was hit by Miroslav Belousov. Roman Bogdanov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danila Samoilov, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 84th minute Arseniy Korvatskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Semen Knyazevich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mikhail Shablovskiy in the 90th minute of play forced Cherepovets FC's goalkeeper Roman Bogdanov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stepan Butenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Arseniy Korvatskiy came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Cherepovets FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arseniy Korvatskiy couldn't finish the play.
