The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 20th minute, Andrey Pechkovskiy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anton Kasatkin's late challenge caught a Волга Н.Н's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arkadiy Ermolov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrey Pechkovskiy in the 42nd minute of the match. Arkadiy Ermolov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrey Pechkovskiy in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timofey Elshin in the 48th minute of play forced Volgodonsk HC's goalkeeper Efim Bakitskiy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Timofey Elshin to strike the kick off in the second half.
