The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cheboksary HC's Fedor Bolotov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernest Kaplunovskiy in the 31st minute of play. Fedor Bolotov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Plutalov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Cheboksary HC's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Plutalov came free, but Fedor Bolotov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arkadiy Topilskiy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ernest Kaplunovskiy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Besov in the 53rd minute of play forced Nizhnevartovsk's goalkeeper Matvey Polituhin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ernest Kaplunovskiy kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fedor Bolotov. That made the score 0-3 in the 59 minute of play. After 62 played minutes Nizhnevartovsk got a freekick which was hit by Oleg Kagakov. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vladimir Plutalov got free with Fedor Bolotov in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Cheboksary HC's Albert Besov in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Viktor Momotov hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Vladimir Plutalov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nizhnevartovsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Vladimir Plutalov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fedor Bolotov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
