The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Felix Antalovskiy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 7th minute, Timur Koshevoy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Volgograd's Valentin Velezhev managed to work through Nizhny Novgorod's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Velezhev couldn't finish the play. With his leg David Chevachev managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Volgograd's Felix Antalovskiy fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Felix Antalovskiy's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Chevachev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. After 93 played minutes Nizhny Novgorod got a freekick which was hit by Matvey Zhdanov. When the match was over Volgograd could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Nizhny Novgorod throughout the match.
