Rostov-on-Don HC's Pavel Ermolinskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Timur Bobylev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Mark Reztsov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rostov-on-Don HC's Igor Deniev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Reztsov in the 8th minute of play. Igor Deniev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mark Reztsov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute Yaroslav Beltsev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Igor Deniev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Rostov-on-Don HC's Danila Stam got a free kick in the 14th minute. A collision led to Rostov-on-Don HC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Innokentiy Sheinin hit a great ball. Nikolay Klyuzhev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timur Bobylev, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Pavel Ermolinskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikolay Klyuzhev having to interfere. 22 minutes in the game, Timur Bobylev dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After 25 played minutes Nizhnevartovsk FC got a freekick which was hit by Yan Bukov. 28 minutes into the match, Nizhnevartovsk FC's goalkeeper Nikolay Klyuzhev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pavel Ermolinskiy. Yaroslav Beltsev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Deniev having to interfere. Mark Reztsov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 39th match minute, Nizhnevartovsk FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigoriy Bashirov to maneuver through the defense. When Timur Bobylev came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Rostov-on-Don HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Timur Bobylev couldn't finish the play. If Timur Bobylev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yaroslav Beltsev to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Nizhnevartovsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Timur Bobylev came free, but Nikolay Klyuzhev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yaroslav Beltsev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Deniev having to interfere. If Mark Reztsov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Rostov-on-Don HC's Igor Deniev got control of the ball when Mark Reztsov tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind Rostov-on-Don HC's goalkeeper Igor Deniev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mark Reztsov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Igor Deniev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pavel Ermolinskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikolay Klyuzhev having to interfere. 85 minutes into the match, Rostov-on-Don HC's Timur Bobylev sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nikolay Klyuzhev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Nizhnevartovsk FC's zone, Emil Esipov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nikolay Klyuzhev came out of the goal and Emil Esipov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Nizhnevartovsk FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
