Matvey Fenskiy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aleksey Hodasevich showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vasiliy Bolshintsov in the 16th minute of the match. Rostov-on-Don's Mark Banevich proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Rostov-on-Don from getting a goal against them. After 20 played minutes Rostov-on-Don got a freekick which was hit by Grigoriy Rutkovskiy. In the 21st minute, Vasiliy Kolychev sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Rostov-on-Don's Mark Banevich didn't even have to move. The supporters of Rostov-on-Don booed when Belgorod was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimir Fedkov didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Vladimir Fedkov got the opportunity to take care of a free kick it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Belgorod. In the 25th minute of the match Vasiliy Kolychev shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mark Banevich showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vladimir Fedkov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Mark Banevich tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Belgorod's Matvey Fenskiy ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mark Banevich. Mark Banevich yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Fedor Elagin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rostov-on-Don's supporters rose to their feet, but Fedor Elagin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aleksey Hodasevich breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 44th match minute, Belgorod was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afanasiy Blinov to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, Fedor Elagin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aleksey Hodasevich. Belgorod's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fedor Elagin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vasiliy Bolshintsov made a kick off. Vasiliy Bolshintsov's late challenge caught a Belgorod's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vasiliy Bolshintsov helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Belgorod booed when Rostov-on-Don was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position.
