Vladikavkaz FC's German Olyunin got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. German Olyunin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vladimir Shehter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gennadiy Potyutkov stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Vladikavkaz FC's Pavel Mikurov got control of the ball when Gerasim Tyupin tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 52nd match minute, Vladikavkaz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arkadiy Shevernitskiy to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Vladikavkaz FC's zone, Gennadiy Potyutkov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pavel Mikurov came out of the goal and Gennadiy Potyutkov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maksim Evtushenko charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maksim Evtushenko the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vladikavkaz FC booed when Dimitrovgrad FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maksim Evtushenko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nikita Tertyshnik hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Vladimir Shehter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mikhail Lytkin, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Pavel Mikurov made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Gerasim Tyupin sent off a good shot on target. If Gerasim Tyupin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mikhail Lytkin in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vladimir Shehter saved Dimitrovgrad FC from getting behind. 88 minutes into the game, Stanislav Scherbakov recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pavel Mikurov. Stanislav Scherbakov showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. If Gennadiy Potyutkov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gennadiy Potyutkov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Dimitrovgrad FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dimitrovgrad FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
