After a defensive mix-up in Voronezh FC's zone, Igor Neverovskiy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Irakliy Anisimov came out of the goal and Igor Neverovskiy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Klim Smertin fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Voronezh FC's protests and gave Klim Smertin a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Voronezh FC's Klim Smertin got a free kick in the 6th minute. A hard shot by Ippolit Belov from long distance, 7 minutes into the match, got Irakliy Anisimov's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Boris Litvinskiy blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Irakliy Anisimov having to make a save. Irakliy Anisimov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Igor Neverovskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Voronezh FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Pavel Slobozhaninov hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Boris Litvinskiy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 38 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Voronezh FC! After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Boris Litvinskiy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgorod's supporters rose to their feet, but Boris Litvinskiy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Irakliy Anisimov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Irakliy Anisimov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Igor Neverovskiy in the 44th minute of play. When Zinoviy Ontikov fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Voronezh FC's protests and gave Zinoviy Ontikov a yellow card for diving instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Igor Neverovskiy was the one to do the kick off. Belgorod's Yuriy Balabuha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Belgorod from getting a goal against them. The referee ignored Belgorod's protests and gave Konstantin Alyabev a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Voronezh FC booed when Belgorod was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Konstantin Alyabev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stanislav Nagulnov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zinoviy Ontikov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yuriy Balabuha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. The supporters of Voronezh FC booed when Belgorod was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Igor Neverovskiy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Igor Neverovskiy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Boris Litvinskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Irakliy Anisimov having to interfere. Irakliy Anisimov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boris Litvinskiy, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Irakliy Anisimov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Igor Neverovskiy in the 92nd minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Voronezh FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Belgorod.
