In the 19th minute Ippolit Yatskovskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gennadiy Boyarkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Felix Kabanov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ippolit Yatskovskiy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The goalkeeper, Felix Klychkov, was totally fooled by Barnaul's Andrey Andreev, who 32 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 38 minutes into the match, Sochi FC's Ippolit Yatskovskiy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gennadiy Boyarkin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Ippolit Yatskovskiy came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Sochi FC fans jumped to their feet. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ippolit Yatskovskiy was the one to do the kick off. Felix Klychkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timofey Kovtun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nikolay Agasarov kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 59th minute Ippolit Yatskovskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gennadiy Boyarkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dmitriy Papp got free with Gennadiy Boyarkin in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Sochi FC's Nikolay Agasarov got a free kick in the 64th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evgeniy Grek in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Felix Klychkov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68th minute, Nikita Muhin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Sochi FC's zone, Timofey Kovtun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Klychkov came out of the goal and Timofey Kovtun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felix Klychkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Timofey Kovtun in the 71st minute of the match. When Evgeniy Grek came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Barnaul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evgeniy Grek couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the game, Sochi FC's Dmitriy Papp nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gennadiy Boyarkin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dmitriy Papp got free with Gennadiy Boyarkin in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ippolit Yatskovskiy in the 83rd minute of play forced Barnaul's goalkeeper Gennadiy Boyarkin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Evgeniy Grek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Timofey Kovtun struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Felix Klychkov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barnaul. If Ippolit Yatskovskiy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dmitriy Papp could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Gennadiy Boyarkin made a huge save. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
