Anton Strelkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boris Kapustin in the 10th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filimon Beluhin got free with Petr Koshelev in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Anton Strelkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boris Kapustin in the 16th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Pavel Dorofeev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anton Strelkov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Pavel Dorofeev notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Penza FC's Anton Strelkov. Anton Strelkov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Through an outstanding action, after 34 minutes, Petr Koshelev successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 37th minute, Boris Kapustin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Nizhny Novgorod FC's Boris Kapustin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anton Strelkov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fedor Nikodimov's late challenge caught a Nizhny Novgorod FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fedor Nikodimov helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th minute, Fedor Nikodimov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nizhny Novgorod FC were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Penza FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aleksey Abuzov took the corner. Pavel Dorofeev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Anton Strelkov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Boris Kapustin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mark Ignashevich charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mark Ignashevich the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mark Ignashevich hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. When Boris Kapustin came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Nizhny Novgorod FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boris Kapustin couldn't finish the play. Ruslan Plakhotskiy struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Anton Strelkov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nizhny Novgorod FC. After 60 played minutes Nizhny Novgorod FC got a freekick which was hit by Ruslan Plakhotskiy. Sergey Pashin hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Nizhny Novgorod FC's zone, Valentin Serebrennikov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petr Koshelev came out of the goal and Valentin Serebrennikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Boris Kapustin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anton Strelkov was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Boris Kapustin capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Boris Kapustin really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. The supporters of Nizhny Novgorod FC booed when Penza FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduard Molchanov didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Valentin Serebrennikov came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Penza FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Serebrennikov couldn't finish the play.
