The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stepan Berezutskiy couldn't finish the play. 18 minutes into the game, Oleg Lysyi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kyzyl HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chelyabinsk FC the free kick. 51 minutes into the match, Kyzyl HC's goal looked a bit too open when Erofey Nepogodin came free, but Fedor Bashenin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Erofey Nepogodin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fedor Bashenin was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
