The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nizhny Novgorod's Anton Dmitrevskiy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilya Nozdrin in the 3rd minute of play. When Oleg Eshtrekov came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Glazov fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oleg Eshtrekov couldn't finish the play. 7 minutes into the match, Nizhny Novgorod's goal looked a bit too open when Ilya Nozdrin came free, but Anton Dmitrevskiy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anton Dmitrevskiy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilya Nozdrin, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Oleg Eshtrekov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ilya Nozdrin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anton Dmitrevskiy having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Oleg Eshtrekov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glazov's supporters rose to their feet, but Oleg Eshtrekov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anton Dmitrevskiy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Anton Dmitrevskiy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilya Nozdrin, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Mark Mihalchenko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Konstantin Arhipov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Igor Cheltygmashev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark Mihalchenko having to interfere. Nizhny Novgorod's Konstantin Arhipov got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Glazov's Mark Mihalchenko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Glazov from getting a goal against them. In the 41st minute, Ilya Nozdrin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nizhny Novgorod's goalkeeper Anton Dmitrevskiy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Konstantin Arhipov to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 53 in the game by Oleg Eshtrekov from a close distance when the talented Anton Dmitrevskiy managed to make a qualified save. Nizhny Novgorod's players were relieved. Konstantin Arhipov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, Glazov's goal looked a bit too open when Konstantin Arhipov came free, but Mark Mihalchenko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mark Mihalchenko came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Nizhny Novgorod's Igor Cheltygmashev. But to his dismay, Igor Cheltygmashev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Oleg Fedoseenko's late challenge caught a Glazov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oleg Fedoseenko helped the player get up and apologised. Ilya Nozdrin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Anton Dmitrevskiy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anton Dmitrevskiy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ilya Nozdrin's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. After some careless play in the Nizhny Novgorod defense, Oleg Eshtrekov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anton Dmitrevskiy. The Nizhny Novgorod fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anton Dmitrevskiy should have stopped the shot. Ruslan Tyuhtyaev kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Glazov's Ilya Nozdrin got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute, Oleg Eshtrekov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Glazov's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
