It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 23rd minute, but Leonid Abramson got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Birobidzhan hanging dry this time. Kliment Kapustin's late challenge caught a Murmansk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kliment Kapustin helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Birobidzhan getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Kliment Kapustin hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Leonid Suvorinov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladimir Smirnov was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Murmansk's zone, Leonid Suvorinov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimir Smirnov came out of the goal and Leonid Suvorinov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oleg Rusak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vladimir Smirnov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Aleksandr Tsehanovetskiy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kliment Kapustin was shown his second yellow card after 64 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Leonid Abramson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Timashov, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Birobidzhan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Murmansk the free kick. After having played for 80 minutes, Ivan Timashov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Murmansk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivan Timashov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oleg Rusak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimir Smirnov having to interfere. Vladimir Smirnov was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Oleg Rusak showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 84 minute of play. Oleg Rusak hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Timashov in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leonid Abramson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivan Timashov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonid Abramson having to interfere. 97 minutes into the game, Ivan Timashov cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Leonid Abramson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
