The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ostap Ivaschenko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tihon Bogatov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. Ostap Ivaschenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 16 played minutes Yoshkar-Ola got a freekick which was hit by Ignat Dorodnyh. Pskov's Vladimir Stepanov suffered a concussion after 18 minutes and had to leave the field. Sergey Prohorov's late challenge caught a Pskov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sergey Prohorov helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th minute, Sergey Prohorov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tihon Bogatov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignat Dorodnyh, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 27 minutes into the match, Pskov's goal looked a bit too open when Ostap Ivaschenko came free, but Tihon Bogatov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tihon Bogatov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ostap Ivaschenko in the 28th minute of the match. Ostap Ivaschenko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tihon Bogatov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ostap Ivaschenko in the 48th minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Ignat Dorodnyh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tihon Bogatov having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Pskov's goalkeeper Tihon Bogatov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ostap Ivaschenko. With an all-out effort, Yoshkar-Ola's Tihon Bogatov threw himself towards the right post 65 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ignat Dorodnyh, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 68th minute of the match, Ignat Dorodnyh tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tihon Bogatov saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Ignat Dorodnyh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ostap Ivaschenko blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tihon Bogatov having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ignat Dorodnyh in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tihon Bogatov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tihon Bogatov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ostap Ivaschenko in the 77th minute. Ignat Dorodnyh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Tihon Bogatov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tihon Larichev in the 90th minute of play forced Yoshkar-Ola's goalkeeper Stanislav Pogorelyi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valeriy Schelkov hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Yoshkar-Ola were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
