Novomoskovsk's Stepan Balbatun proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Novomoskovsk from getting a goal against them. Novomoskovsk's Stepan Balbatun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Neupokoev in the 6th minute of play. Valeriy Rafeev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Potap Artemev in the 8th minute of play. Nikolay Dorodnyh kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. If Vladimir Neupokoev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stepan Balbatun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimir Neupokoev in the 15th minute of the match. The supporters of Novomoskovsk booed when Penza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitaliy Bersenev didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Potap Artemev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Novomoskovsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Potap Artemev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Danila Avdeev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Potap Artemev scored 0-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Valeriy Rafeev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Penza getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Filimon Kambarov hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Valter Rybakov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 38 minutes into the match, Filimon Kambarov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stepan Balbatun. Novomoskovsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Filimon Kambarov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Vladimir Neupokoev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Stepan Balbatun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Penza booed when Novomoskovsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matvey Govorov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Penza's Filimon Kambarov managed to work through Novomoskovsk's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Filimon Kambarov dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Novomoskovsk's Potap Artemev got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Potap Artemev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valeriy Rafeev having to interfere. After 68 played minutes, Penza's Eduard Martynov shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Stepan Balbatun came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Penza reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Danila Avdeev managed to get in a good position for a shot. Novomoskovsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Danila Avdeev was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valeriy Rafeev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Potap Artemev in the 72nd minute of play forced Penza's goalkeeper Valeriy Rafeev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Georgiy Levkov kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Vladimir Neupokoev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Penza's goalkeeper Valeriy Rafeev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Filimon Kambarov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stepan Balbatun having to interfere. Stepan Balbatun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filimon Kambarov in the 96th minute of the match. Penza were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
