Gerasim Alekseev started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Penza's Nikolay Antushevskiy got a free kick in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Kaluga FC's Eduard Tuftin broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 14th match minute, Kaluga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kirill Nilin to maneuver through the defense. Petr Getmanov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filimon Kambarov in the 15th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Vladimir Neupokoev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerasim Alekseev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 26th minute, Filimon Kambarov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aleksey Maslov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valeriy Rafeev having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Filimon Kambarov in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Petr Getmanov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Timur Kalitvintsev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valeriy Rafeev having to interfere. If Vladimir Neupokoev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vladimir Neupokoev to strike the kick off in the second half. After 57 minutes, Aleksandr Snurchevskiy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kaluga FC and the Penza players grew even worse after the yellow card. 56 minutes into the game, one of Kaluga FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After having played for 69 minutes, Filimon Kambarov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penza's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filimon Kambarov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Penza's Vladimir Neupokoev got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 76th match minute, Kaluga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Tuftin to maneuver through the defense. Kaluga FC's Petr Getmanov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Neupokoev in the 79th minute of play. If Aleksey Maslov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute Gerasim Alekseev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valeriy Rafeev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Penza's zone, Aleksey Maslov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valeriy Rafeev came out of the goal and Aleksey Maslov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 95th minute, Kaluga FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Filimon Kambarov fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When the final whistle sounded Penza left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Kaluga FC.
