The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gennadiy Reshetnev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Belyaev in the 5th minute of the match. If Yan Novikov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pavel Belyaev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Gennadiy Reshetnev made a huge save. After 23 minutes, Yan Novikov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elektrostal FC and the Sterlitamak FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Elektrostal FC's Yan Novikov got a free kick in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute, Lev Molchanov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Mark Zinovev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Egor Shatilov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elektrostal FC's Mikhail Pavlov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladislav Eremin in the 33rd minute of play. Mark Zinovev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Mikhail Pavlov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gennadiy Reshetnev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yan Novikov in the 39th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yan Novikov in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gennadiy Reshetnev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pavel Belyaev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pavel Belyaev blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gennadiy Reshetnev having to make a save. Pavel Nogtev kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Elektrostal FC's Yan Novikov ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gennadiy Reshetnev. Gennadiy Reshetnev yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yan Novikov made a kick off. Vladislav Eremin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikhail Pavlov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Anton Gorshkov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pavel Belyaev recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 67thth minute of the game Yan Novikov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sterlitamak FC's Gennadiy Reshetnev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sterlitamak FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Elektrostal FC.
