In the 41st minute, Vsevolod Ponomarev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ippolit Ivlev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stanislav Zhun stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gordey Smirnov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rustam Burdenko in the 57th minute of play. After 60 played minutes Volgodonsk HC got a freekick which was hit by Arkadiy Bozenenkov. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matvey Berestov in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gordey Smirnov saved Volgodonsk HC from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Gleb Gaboev kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vasiliy Zuenko. That made the score 0-2 in the 63 minute of play. Gleb Gaboev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vyacheslav Lagov kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Gordey Smirnov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Matvey Berestov's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Ekaterinburg's Vasiliy Zuenko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Ekaterinburg from getting a goal against them. 89 minutes into the match, Ekaterinburg's goalkeeper Vasiliy Zuenko had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gleb Gaboev. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Volgodonsk HC's goalkeeper Gordey Smirnov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Volgodonsk HC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
