Smolensk FC's Oleg Emelin got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oleg Emelin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Vasiliy Krivolesov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Smolensk FC booed when Irkutsk FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pavel Zborzhevskiy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Irkutsk FC's Vasiliy Krivolesov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Petuhov in the 6th minute of play. Leonid Utekhin hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 8th minute, Ivan Petuhov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vasiliy Krivolesov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Petuhov in the 16th minute of the match. Vasiliy Krivolesov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Petuhov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Irkutsk FC's Pavel Zborzhevskiy got a free kick in the 25th minute. 27 minutes into the match, Irkutsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Petuhov came free, but Vasiliy Krivolesov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Smolensk FC's zone, Vadim Avdeev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marat Manoshkin came out of the goal and Vadim Avdeev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Smolensk FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Aleksandr Baryshnikov hit a great ball. Marat Manoshkin came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Irkutsk FC's Vadim Avdeev. But to his dismay, Vadim Avdeev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 35 minutes into the match, Irkutsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Petuhov came free, but Vasiliy Krivolesov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 minutes, Maksim Nakhabin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Irkutsk FC and the Smolensk FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ivan Petuhov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasiliy Krivolesov having to interfere. Vasiliy Krivolesov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Petuhov in the 42nd minute of play. After 42 played minutes Irkutsk FC got a freekick which was hit by Leonid Utekhin. Oleg Emelin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasiliy Krivolesov having to interfere. Vasiliy Krivolesov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Petuhov in the 48th minute of the match. The Smolensk FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Irkutsk FC were winning 0-1.

Vasiliy Krivolesov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oleg Emelin, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Denis Kuznetskiy shot from long distance in the 71st minute, but Marat Manoshkin was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Irkutsk FC's Vasiliy Krivolesov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oleg Emelin in the 73rd minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Irkutsk FC's Arseniy Kirichenko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marat Manoshkin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 90 played minutes, Smolensk FC's Sergey Patrasenko shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vasiliy Krivolesov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Smolensk FC reached it. Irkutsk FC's Vasiliy Krivolesov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oleg Emelin in the 93rd minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Irkutsk FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
