Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) In the 4th minute of the game, Arkadiy Polatovskiy landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 4 minutes into the game, Egor Kruchin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Velikiy Novgorod's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nizhny Novgorod the free kick. Egor Kruchin hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Pavel Seleznev struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Pavel Laikask didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nizhny Novgorod. Ernest Kazakov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pavel Laikask having to make a save. The supporters of Velikiy Novgorod booed when Nizhny Novgorod was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonid Safonov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grigoriy Aven came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Velikiy Novgorod's Rudolf Bogdanov. But to his dismay, Rudolf Bogdanov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Pavel Seleznev managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nizhny Novgorod's supporters rose to their feet, but Pavel Seleznev was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pavel Laikask breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aleksey Kapskiy charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aleksey Kapskiy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Aleksey Kapskiy hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. If Rudolf Kovtun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Nizhny Novgorod's goal looked a bit too open when Rudolf Kovtun came free, but Grigoriy Aven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grigoriy Aven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rudolf Kovtun in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nizhny Novgorod's goalkeeper Grigoriy Aven, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pavel Seleznev got free with Pavel Laikask in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pavel Seleznev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Pavel Laikask tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Velikiy Novgorod getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Egor Kruchin hit a great ball. After the first half Velikiy Novgorod were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pavel Seleznev to strike the kick off in the second half. When Rudolf Bogdanov came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Velikiy Novgorod fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rudolf Bogdanov couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Rudolf Kovtun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Velikiy Novgorod's supporters rose to their feet, but Rudolf Kovtun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nizhny Novgorod's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rudolf Kovtun 62 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. Nizhny Novgorod's Grigoriy Aven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rudolf Kovtun in the 66th minute of play. Grigoriy Aven showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudolf Kovtun, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. When Velikiy Novgorod's Rudolf Kovtun in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Nizhny Novgorod's goalie prevented a goal. Rudolf Bogdanov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Grigoriy Aven read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Pavel Laikask showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Seleznev in the 78th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rudolf Kovtun in the 80th minute of play forced Nizhny Novgorod's goalkeeper Grigoriy Aven to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aleksey Kapskiy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ernest Kazakov came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Nizhny Novgorod fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernest Kazakov couldn't finish the play. The Velikiy Novgorod supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Velikiy Novgorod would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
