Danila Barabolya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 9 played minutes Voronezh FC got a freekick which was hit by Leonid Okonnikov. In the 17th minute Pavel Rubashkin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stepan Krivoruchko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 21 played minutes Voronezh FC got a freekick which was hit by Yuriy Arbatskiy. After 33 played minutes, Kursk's Rostislav Chugunov shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Denis Akulenko came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kursk reached it. Porfiriy Kirillov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nikolay Kaganov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 47 minutes, Eduard Buksmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kursk and the Voronezh FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When Vladislav Dobrynkin came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Kursk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladislav Dobrynkin couldn't finish the play. Denis Akulenko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Porfiriy Kirillov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stepan Krivoruchko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavel Rubashkin in the 62nd minute of play. Voronezh FC's Denis Akulenko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Porfiriy Kirillov in the 68th minute of play. Nikolay Kaganov might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Denis Akulenko. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nikolay Kaganov ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 73 minutes, Nikolay Kaganov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kursk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nikolay Kaganov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ilya Pohilko's late challenge caught a Kursk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ilya Pohilko helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th match minute, Voronezh FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ilya Pohilko to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Nikolay Kaganov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kursk's supporters rose to their feet, but Nikolay Kaganov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denis Akulenko breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Kursk's Rostislav Chugunov got a free kick in the 86th minute. Stepan Krivoruchko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Rubashkin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Porfiriy Kirillov kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Denis Akulenko. That made the score 0-1 in the 95 minute of play.
