With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruslan Izmailov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Rybinsk's Viktor Aleksinskiy got a free kick in the 28th minute. Nikolay Zvezdin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ruslan Izmailov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Nikolay Zvezdin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nakhodka HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Nikolay Zvezdin fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nakhodka HC's protests and gave Nikolay Zvezdin a yellow card for diving instead. The audience was convinced that Vladislav Sharmanov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruslan Izmailov was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Evgeniy Tochilin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Nakhodka HC's goalkeeper Mikhail Demin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Evgeniy Tochilin. In the 44th minute, Vladislav Sharmanov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Vladislav Sharmanov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vladislav Sharmanov to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Nikolay Zvezdin made a precise shot to the right of Ruslan Izmailov. Rybinsk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Mikhail Demin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oleg Kostrov, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. If Evgeniy Tochilin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
