The audience thought a goal was coming when Valeriy Lihachev got free with Marat Ostromenitskiy in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Artur Evsikov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Novotroitsk FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Artur Evsikov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marat Ostromenitskiy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 12th minute, Valeriy Lihachev ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marat Ostromenitskiy was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Yakov Polyakov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Malafeev having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Rybinsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Evsikov came free, but Marat Ostromenitskiy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Veniamin Bryndin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Malafeev having to interfere. A collision led to Rybinsk FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Oleg Adabash hit a great ball. Rudolf Malafeev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Veniamin Bryndin, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Rybinsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Evsikov came free, but Marat Ostromenitskiy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yakov Polyakov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Malafeev having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

After 51 played minutes Novotroitsk FC got a freekick which was hit by Roman Gabaev. Roman Gabaev hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Valentin Molotkov sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Novotroitsk FC's Rudolf Malafeev didn't even have to move. After 57 minutes, Eduard Broshin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Novotroitsk FC and the Rybinsk FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Novotroitsk FC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Eduard Broshin hit a great ball. The long shot by Valentin Molotkov in the 58th minute really tested Rudolf Malafeev's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When Yakov Polyakov came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Rybinsk FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yakov Polyakov couldn't finish the play. Veniamin Bryndin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Rudolf Malafeev made a huge save. In the 73rd minute, Novotroitsk FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Veniamin Bryndin fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Artur Evsikov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marat Ostromenitskiy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Evsikov in the 80th minute of play. Novotroitsk FC's Valeriy Lihachev got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rybinsk FC's Yakov Polyakov in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Novotroitsk FC's goalie prevented a goal. 86 minutes into the game, Vyacheslav Dvoskin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rybinsk FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Novotroitsk FC the free kick. In the 86th minute, Vyacheslav Dvoskin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yakov Polyakov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Rybinsk FC's Rudolf Malafeev threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Yakov Polyakov, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Novotroitsk FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Rybinsk FC for a fine match.
