With an all-out effort, Barnaul FC's Aleksandr Morgunenkov threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vladimir Maiorets, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Barnaul FC's Sergey Pervushin got a free kick in the 17th minute. Oleg Guschin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Vladimir Maiorets had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gennadiy Berezhnoy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksandr Morgunenkov having to interfere. Rostislav Gurchenko didn't quite understand what happened when in the 39 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. After a defensive mix-up in Norilsk's zone, Vladimir Maiorets stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aleksandr Morgunenkov came out of the goal and Vladimir Maiorets tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 48 played minutes Norilsk got a freekick which was hit by Rostislav Gurchenko. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Vladimir Maiorets scored 1-0 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aleksandr Morgunenkov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vladimir Maiorets in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aleksandr Morgunenkov saved Norilsk from getting behind. 59 minutes into the game, Artur Berezitskiy cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Aleksandr Morgunenkov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Norilsk:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Barnaul FC:s goal. The referee gave Barnaul FC a penalty, 64 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by David Shenderovich, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Norilsk's Aleksandr Morgunenkov. 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Barnaul FC's zone, Oleg Guschin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aleksandr Koshkin came out of the goal and Oleg Guschin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Norilsk's Arkadiy Noskov slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Aleksandr Koshkin. That made the score 3-1 after 73 minutes of play. Artur Berezitskiy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Aleksandr Morgunenkov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aleksandr Morgunenkov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gennadiy Berezhnoy, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. In the 92nd minute, Vladimir Maiorets got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Artur Berezitskiy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksandr Morgunenkov having to interfere. Aleksandr Morgunenkov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimir Maiorets in the 95th minute of the match. 96 minutes into the match, Barnaul FC's Artur Berezitskiy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aleksandr Morgunenkov narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
