The crowd rose to their feet as Yoshkar-Ola FC's Sergey Kokoulin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Askold Kulchihin. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Yoshkar-Ola FC's Filimon Lopatnikov got a free kick in the 11th minute. When Oleg Petrichenko, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 24 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Askold Kulchihin was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Vitaliy Perfilov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Valentin Kostyurin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oleg Petrichenko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Askold Kulchihin made a huge save. Vitaliy Perfilov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 38 minutes into the game, Filimon Lopatnikov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Yoshkar-Ola FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Magnitogorsk the free kick. In the 39th minute, Filimon Lopatnikov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kondrat Vorzhetsov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valentin Kostyurin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kondrat Vorzhetsov, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 48 minutes into the game, Magnitogorsk's Kondrat Vorzhetsov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valentin Kostyurin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kondrat Vorzhetsov to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 61 minutes, Oleg Petrichenko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yoshkar-Ola FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oleg Petrichenko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute, Sergey Kokoulin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Oleg Petrichenko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Askold Kulchihin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Askold Kulchihin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergey Kokoulin in the 69th minute of the match. When Timur Yarve fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yoshkar-Ola FC's protests and gave Timur Yarve a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Magnitogorsk booed when Yoshkar-Ola FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timur Yarve didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Sergey Kokoulin came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Yoshkar-Ola FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergey Kokoulin couldn't finish the play. Askold Kulchihin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oleg Petrichenko in the 80th minute of play. Yaroslav Mochalov hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Vitaliy Perfilov kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Kondrat Vorzhetsov's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Valentin Kostyurin skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Magnitogorsk's Askold Kulchihin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oleg Petrichenko in the 93rd minute of play. Magnitogorsk's Vitaliy Perfilov suffered a sore foot after 94 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 95th minute, Filimon Lopatnikov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
