Ilya Kostomarov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 38th minute Pavel Vitashevskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but May Marich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Surgut FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Timofeev to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Surgut FC's Ilya Kostomarov slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Roman Trapezin. That made the score 1-1 after 45 minutes of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The Saratov fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roman Trapezin should have stopped the shot. Mikhail Kutenkov's late challenge caught a Saratov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mikhail Kutenkov helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th match minute, Surgut FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mikhail Kutenkov to maneuver through the defense. Petr Emelyanov took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 58th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for May Marich. Surgut FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Surgut FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
