Nefteyugansk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marat Kebich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Nefteyugansk's Louis Nieves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Albert Nalivaiko made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ilya Pozdneev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Valentin Gordeychuk made a huge save. A collision led to Makhachkala getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Stepan Ivaschenko hit a great ball. If Irakliy Mamontov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Marat Kebich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Nefteyugansk's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Vrubel came free, but Valentin Gordeychuk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Ilya Pozdneev had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valentin Gordeychuk. Nefteyugansk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ilya Pozdneev was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 28th minute Anton Kudryashov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Nalivaiko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nefteyugansk's Valentin Gordeychuk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Nefteyugansk from getting a goal against them. Nefteyugansk's Valentin Gordeychuk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stepan Ivaschenko in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nefteyugansk's Louis Nieves got a free kick in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Vrubel in the 34th minute of play forced Nefteyugansk's goalkeeper Valentin Gordeychuk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nefteyugansk's Marat Kebich in 52 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Albert Nalivaiko guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. The supporters of Nefteyugansk booed when Makhachkala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stepan Ivaschenko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valentin Gordeychuk was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vsevolod Krylov struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Albert Nalivaiko didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nefteyugansk. In the 83rd minute, Vyacheslav Beletskiy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valentin Gordeychuk was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. If Marat Kebich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Makhachkala booed when Nefteyugansk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksey Izmailov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valentin Gordeychuk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Igor Vrubel in the 89th minute of the match. After 89 minutes, Louis Nieves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nefteyugansk and the Makhachkala players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 90 played minutes Nefteyugansk got a freekick which was hit by Louis Nieves. In the 93rd minute, Irakliy Mamontov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nefteyugansk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-4. Louis Nieves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Nalivaiko having to interfere. The Makhachkala fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Nefteyugansk were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
