In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rapid FC's goalkeeper Nichifor Rogoz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Gabriel Nae took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Corneliu Stoiciu to make any attempt to save it. Corneliu Stoiciu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabian Florea in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Iustinian Avădanei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th match minute, Rapid FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Florea to maneuver through the defense. Gavril Moți hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Tiberiu Manole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the match, Ripensia Timisoara's goalkeeper Corneliu Stoiciu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernest Doicaru. Nichifor Rogoz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tiberiu Manole's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Rapid FC were furious when Ivan Mihuț was red carded, 47 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernest Doicaru made a kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Doru Isăceanu threw the ball into play from the sideline. Ripensia Timisoara's Iustinian Avădanei quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Tiberiu Manole fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nichifor Rogoz having to interfere. After some careless play in the Rapid FC defense, Tiberiu Manole kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nichifor Rogoz. The Rapid FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nichifor Rogoz should have stopped the shot. Corneliu Stoiciu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavril Moți in the 77th minute of play. Horaţiu Cutieru lost his temper 78 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ripensia Timisoara fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 78th minute. Penalty! An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernest Doicaru in the 89th minute of play forced Ripensia Timisoara's goalkeeper Corneliu Stoiciu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ripensia Timisoara's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernest Doicaru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-4.
