Uljas Siivonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornel Pătrășcanu in the 5th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, -THT- Blue Mountain State's goal looked a bit too open when Irinel Zberea came free, but Uljas Siivonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Uljas Siivonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cornel Pătrășcanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Dacian Hănescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. -THT- Blue Mountain State's supporters rose to their feet, but Dacian Hănescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dinu Aurelianu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Spanesti's goalkeeper Dinu Aurelianu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 15th match minute, -THT- Blue Mountain State was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cazimir Găvănescu to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Irinel Zberea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spanesti's supporters rose to their feet, but Irinel Zberea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When Codruț Fulga fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Spanesti's protests and gave Codruț Fulga a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Spanesti's Codruț Fulga got a free kick in the 39th minute. Cazimir Găvănescu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 41st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emil Vâlcu to strike the kick off in the second half. Irinel Zberea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Emil Vâlcu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dinu Aurelianu having to interfere. Cornel Purcărete sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emil Vâlcu in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dinu Aurelianu saved Spanesti from getting behind. Dinu Aurelianu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Purcărete in the 92nd minute of the match.
