Petruț Turlea was slow to take the kick. During this time Calul's players had a chance to rest. 9 minutes into the game, Damian Stegaru cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Eliodor Hidișan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mugur Pistol who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Horia Tonegaru when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 13th minute, Dinu Benga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Calul booed when steaua fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nechifor Gurzău didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filip Ciolofan hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Ionuț Târlea blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Horia Tonegaru having to make a save. Eliodor Hidișan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dinu Benga in the 26th minute of play. Eliodor Hidișan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Stegaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Filip Ciolofan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Calul's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ionuț Târlea fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

After having played for 57 minutes, Damian Stegaru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damian Stegaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. steaua fc's Eliodor Hidișan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filip Ciolofan in the 60th minute of play. Ionuț Târlea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horia Tonegaru having to interfere. After 66 minutes of play, steaua fc's Mugur Pistol made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Horia Tonegaru was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mugur Pistol in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Horia Tonegaru prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 73rd minute, Damian Ciociu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eliodor Hidișan was out of position in the 77 minute of play, and Filip Ciolofan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Filip Ciolofan really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. If Nistor Zbora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ionuț Târlea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horia Tonegaru having to interfere. In the 92nd match minute, steaua fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nechifor Gurzău to maneuver through the defense.
