In the 10th minute of the match Nae Zdraşcu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tudor Mailat skillfully saved the ball. Cristinel Siadbei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horia Encuțoiu in the 12th minute of play. Merisasca SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gauriciu the free kick. Tudor Mailat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucrețiu Hațegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Horia Encuțoiu had several of the Gauriciu's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 33 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Cristinel Siadbei as he didn't even see the shot coming. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Ciutacu in the 39th minute of play forced Merisasca SC's goalkeeper Tudor Mailat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tudor Mailat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucian Cociubei in the 40th minute of the match. After 41 minutes, Gigel Simionaş mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Merisasca SC and the Gauriciu players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st minute, Gigel Simionaş hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, Merisasca SC's goal looked a bit too open when Lucrețiu Hațegan came free, but Tudor Mailat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 48 minutes into the game, Marcel Hurmuzescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merisasca SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gauriciu the free kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horia Encuțoiu was the one to do the kick off. Horia Encuțoiu struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Cristinel Siadbei didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merisasca SC. When Wladyslaw Kanczuszewski came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Merisasca SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wladyslaw Kanczuszewski couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Merisasca SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gauriciu:s goal. Nae Zdraşcu placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucrețiu Hațegan in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tudor Mailat prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 69 minutes into the match, Merisasca SC's goalkeeper Tudor Mailat had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lucian Cociubei. Tudor Mailat made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Lucian Cociubei sent off a good shot on target. Lucrețiu Hațegan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tudor Mailat came out and tried to block the shot, but Lucrețiu Hațegan slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 71st minute. In the 76thth minute of the game Horia Encuțoiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gauriciu's Cristinel Siadbei was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tudor Mailat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucian Cociubei in the 78th minute of the match. Horia Encuțoiu scored 3-2 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cristinel Siadbei, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 84 minutes into the match, Merisasca SC's goal looked a bit too open when Sergiu Ciutacu came free, but Tudor Mailat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgar Cristian got free with Tudor Mailat in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 89 played minutes Merisasca SC got a freekick which was hit by Horia Encuțoiu. Gauriciu's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
