Claudiu Uncescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maxim Vulcan kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cetatea ARAD's zone, Ilie Aurelianu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcu Cunea came out of the goal and Ilie Aurelianu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manuel Gâgea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcu Cunea having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Ion Encica hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ilie Panaiteanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viktor Gunnarsson in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th match minute, FC Prahova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Gâgea to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Viktor Gunnarsson made the kick off in the second half. Ion Encica could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Ilie Panaiteanu made a huge save. Eliodor Pintea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ilie Panaiteanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. FC Prahova's Dan Cârnu got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ion Encica recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the FC Prahova defense, Viktor Gunnarsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilie Panaiteanu. The FC Prahova fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilie Panaiteanu should have stopped the shot. Ilie Panaiteanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliodor Pintea in the 81st minute of the match. In the 85th minute, Cetatea ARAD's Viktor Gunnarsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ilie Panaiteanu. Ilie Panaiteanu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vlad Boieraș got free with Ilie Panaiteanu in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ion Encica struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Ilie Panaiteanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cetatea ARAD. The FC Prahova supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cetatea ARAD's performance. The match ended with a win for Cetatea ARAD.
